Volunteers are an integral part of how we function at Izandla ZeAfrika. We are always on the lookout for mature (over 18 years unless accompanied by a parent or youth leader), energetic, servant-hearted followers of Christ who are willing to rough it out in rural Zululand and lend a helping hand. We have a strict recruitment process since we need to be able to trust our volunteers to conduct themselves in a Godly manner and who can be trusted to help with the babies in our care as well as the people who we minister to. All potential volunteers need to complete the application process accompanied by reference letters from their church and community leaders. Application forms can be requested by sending an e-mail of intent to info@izandlaafrica.co.za

Volunteers need to be able to finance themselves (we recommend a minimum of R2500 ZAR per month) to cover groceries and leisure. Basic self-catering accommodation is provided on site and is in walking distance from our main projects and the local shops.

Volunteers will be given responsibilities according to our current needs, their experience or profession, likes and dislikes as well as potential areas for personal growth. These activities will include gardening, cooking for the baby home, sorting donations, helping at Butterfly Home, admin tasks, accompanying staff on home visits, helping at Little Hands Play Group etc.

The ideal person would be willing to accept change; be willing to give up certain comforts such as long, hot showers; city life; luxuries; be able to work in a team; open to learning a new language and must, above all, be able to find their joy and strength in Christ.
